Dan and Judy Childers started the business in 1969 located in downtown Portsmouth originally named Childers Piano and Organ. Within a year or two, guitars, amplifiers and sound systems were added and they became known as Childers Music Center. Childers has been southern Ohio's premier music store and is still operated by the family. If you haven't been to our store you are missing out on a very fine display of vintage guitars and amplifiers. Dan has been collecting these for many years and they will soon ALL be up for sale. The store is managed by Ann Meyers (daughter) and Dwaine Childers (son). On the sales floor you will also find local well known musician Don Smith. Don is available to teach guitar, bass guitar and drum lessons. Larry Collinsworth of the Convertible Blondes can also be found in the guitar studios teaching guitar and bass lessons. Morris Nunley now teaching in the drum studio In the piano teaching studios you will find Donna Howell.
